Barry Lamar Bonds, Home Run King

Congratulations on 756.

The Yankees are only 5 games back of the Sax. Could be an interesting few weeks wouldn't you say? On another note, thank you Toronto Blue Jays for lighting a fire under the team last night.

I don't feel like writing so this will have to do.

Weekend in Review

Congrats to Barry Bonds, Tom Glavine, and Alex Rodriguez on reaching 755, 300, and 500 respectively this weekend.

Bud Selig, you are an asshole. You watched with indifference as Bonds tied Aaron's mark and then stood with hands in pockets and a blank stare. As the Commissioner of MLB you should have shown a bit of class and applauded as the record was tied. No one is asking you to give the guy a hug. But you do represent baseball and this was a bad way to do so.

The Yankees scored another Touchdown yesterday and added a 2 point conversion to sweep the Royals and bring their post All Star break record to 18-7. The next 5 weeks will decide whether the Yankees make the playoffs. After facing the Blue Jays tonight they will face Cleveland, Anaheim, Boston, and Detroit over the next few weeks. By September 16th we should know what this team is made of and if they will be playing in October.

Joba Chamberlain should join the Yankees in Toronto for today's matinee with the Blue Jays. Let's hope that Joba plays the role of Mo in 1996.

John from Cincinnati is one strange show. I still am not quite clear about what the heck is going on here and the season finale is a week away. Anyone with some insight into this is welcome to be heard here.

755, 500, 300

The day in sports today is a day in numbers for many.

Barry Bonds is one HR away from tying Hank Aaron's 33 year old record. Bonds plays the next 3 games in Los Angeles, where the fans have never liked him very much, to say the least. Check later to see if Barry is in the lineup of if the team will "rest" him until returning to San Francisco next week.

Tom Glavine is one win away from 300. Glavine takes the mound in Milwaukee tonight in his first attempt at 300. This could be the last 300 game winner that we see for a very long time. Randy Johnson is within striking distance but may have thrown the last pitch of his career.

Alex Rodriguez is one HR away from 500, which will make him the youngest man ever to reach 500 HR's at the young age of 32. ARod has not gotten a hit since hitting his 499th HR last week. No word on whether Torre will move him to 8th in tonight's lineup.

The MLB Trade Deadline is 5.5 hours from now and Atlanta has taken the lead as far as deals go. Texieria is already on board with Dotel to soon follow. Look for the Mets to trade for as many 30-40 year old Latino players as possible in the next few hours. Let's hope the Yankees can trick someone into taking Farnsworth off of their hands also.

RIP Bill Walsh To a man that needs no introduction. He helped change the way modern day offenses are run.

More updates on MLB trades to come without the day.

5 Games Over .500

Shelley Duncan did his best Kevin Maas impersonation this weekend and hit 3 HR's in two days as the Yankees beat Tampa by 3 Touchdowns yesterday and won 3 of 4. How many games will the Gmen have 3 TD's this season is the question. The Yankees get 3 with KC this week while the Sawx play the Indians. Could get interesting in August.

Sergi Garcia chokes away the British Open. Raise your hand if you are surprised.

NBA Ref Scandal is much worse than any steroid or HGH controversy.

Speaking of which..... Barry Lamar Bonds and the Giants are home for 7 games this week. After which they go on the road for 15 of 22. He's not so tough when you use the whole name, is he?

NFL camps start this week. If the Giants go 8-8 this year I will be thrilled. Sad, but true.

MLB Trade Deadline in 8 days. Can something happen. Please? Can the Yankees get someone like David Justice to lead them to the promised land?

The Weekend Ahead...

It looks like Bud Selig may have to cancel his golf games this weekend and grab a cab over to Miller Park to see his favorite Left fielder play some ball this weekend. Personally I think that Boche should wait until there is a Selig sighting, and then he should take Barry from the lineup. The Giants are not in a pennant race as they absolutely stink. Why shouldn't Barry break this record at home? I for one will stand up and applaud the man, as should all of the fans in attendance.

Yanks and Devil Rays play 4: The Yankees blew their chance to be 6 games back yesterday as the Sawx again lost, this time to the Pale Hose. With Matt DeSalvo and Kei Igawa each pitching during tomorrow's double header. let's just hope for a split. Or an early win then some thunderstorms would work as well.

British Open: Sergio Garcia has the lead after the first round and we all know that will not last very long. This guy has Van de Velde written all over him if he even made it to Sunday with a lead. Look for a European to take this one, unless Tiger does his thing.

Michael Vick: When Marcus Vick is referred to as the "good brother" you know that somewhere along the lines you took a wrong turn. Big brother is not very bright

Home Run Derby

Tonight begins the MLB All Star Festivities which are always fun. If they would replace Chris Berman they might be even more fun. Look for Albert Pujols to win tonight and regain the power stroke that has been missing for the first half of the season. Pac Bell is a better park for right handed hitters, although you would not know since Bonds is the only one that ever leaves the park there anyway.

No word on whether Brad Lidge is available to pitch to Albert.

Here's to hoping Prince Fielder and Alex Rios lose in the first round so they are well rested for a 2nd half Fantasy Baseball push. After writing this, they will probably face each other in the finals.

Watch.

In Need of Attention Curt?

I am not sure where Curt Schilling got his fact checker from but last I checked Barry Bonds has not admitted to taking steroids. Why would he bring up a guy's personal life as well? I'm sure that somewhere during his mundane existence on this planet, Senor Schilling has done a few things wrong in his life too.

This all has to do with one thing: Curt is pissed that Roger Clemens is back and stealing the limelight from anyone and everyone in the MLB right now. When will this guy finally go away? Do us a favor Curt, and stick to pitching please and shut the fuck up.

This is a recording.
