2008 MLB Predictions

The Johnny Wishbone Panel of Experts for 2008 is a remarkable combination of talent, wit, and narcissism. And that's just from Josh. In all seriousness we have a group that is second to none. You think you need Kurkijan, Olney, and Gammons? Let's check our numbers versus theirs at year's end and see where we stand. No, not paycheck numbers. Without further ado, the 2008 experts and their predictions:

Josh Brill--Josh stands 5'10 in platform shoes and has yet to actually make a scale's needle move. An aspiring Screenwriter Josh lives in the LA Suburbs and has not been seen with Britney Spears. We cannot say this is due to a lack of trying. Josh likes Asian women and cold beer and can be found watching MLB.tv for the next 6 months in his Joe Girardi 25 t-shirt. Josh is also a contributor to Johnny Wishbone.

Eric Anderson-- A West Coast Native, Eric spends his days as a Web Editor for AccessHollywood.com and his nights reminding his Fiancee Shelley Aguilar why she is the luckiest woman left of the Mississippi (sorry Holly). EA also spends his days on Instant Messenger with Craig talking sports all day at work. Eric has his own blog That's What HE Said, but don't read it becasue he does not really update it very often.

Chris Baker-- Chris can be found in God's Country, San Diego, wearing flip flops and a Hawaiian shirt by day. And by night. Rarely found without a cold one in his right hand, Chris is an avid golfer and loses to his older brother beats him in Fantasy sports every year. Chris is wed to the beautiful girl from Chicago, Holly Pissy Pants.

Seth Cohn-- As an attorney in NYC Seth spends much of his day in court litigating in front of the likes of Judge Harry Stone. As an expecting father Seth spends the rest of his time figuring out how to raise a child, and when he will be playing golf this summer. Seth was to be a Johnny Wishbone contributor but has yet to figure out how to log in.

Kevin Connors
--Kevin is about 6'3" 115 lbs and can see the floor and handle the rock. He also has a gift for gab and can be heard during Yankees Broadcasts on 880 WCBS Radio in NYC. Please don't confuse his with Suzyn Waldman. Kevin grew up in the Rock and goes to church on Sundays.

Seth Doria-- Seth is first in foremost known as a family man, as he lives in the Midwest with his wife and two children. Seth is the only person here responsible enough to actually have kids. If you saw his 2007 predictions you will know why is is known as a family man first. Seth also has a blog The Left Calf.

Craig Rubinstein--Craig is not sure what his is known for, which may be why he has the time to write this in the first place. He is the main contributor to Johnny Wishbone and still gets an erection when the NY Giants are mentioned. He wears his emotions on his sleeve and is most looking forward to Ricky Henderson's Hall of Fame Induction Speech. Craig would like Ricky to introduce Ricky. Craig is tolerated, (most of the time) by his beautiful Bride Danielle.

YANKEES TO WEAR COMMEMORATIVE YANKEE STADIUM FINAL SEASON PATCH IN 2008

The New York Yankees announced today that the team will wear a special patch on their 2008 uniforms commemorating the final season of Yankee Stadium. In addition, the team will also don a patch in honor of the 2008 All-Star Game that will take place at Yankee Stadium on July 15, 2008. It is the first time the club’s uniforms will be adorned with a patch for a full season since 2003, when the Yankees wore a patch commemorating the 100th anniversary of the franchise.

The “Yankee Stadium—The Final Season” patch will feature the main entrance of the original Stadium as it was prior to renovation in 1976. A “1923-2008” notation along the top of the patch recognizes the lifetime of the Stadium since its original Opening Day on April 18, 1923.

In an effort to be closest to the heart, the Yankee Stadium patch will be worn on the left sleeves of both home and road jerseys. The 2008 All-Star Game patch will appear on the right sleeves of both jerseys.

This Is a Great Time of Year...

I know I am supposed to write more frequently here but I was never good at homework either. My only excuse is that it is a great time of year and things get busy. The months of March and April might be my two favorite months of the year.

Spring Training is in full swing and it should be an interesting year for the "underdog" Yankees. Yes, I did just use the word underdog and Yankees in the same sentence. When you have 3 rookie pitchers who are important parts of your staff you cannot be considered the favorite. Let's hope these Yankees have a flair for the dramatic in this last season in Yankee Stadium.

March Madness stepped things up yesterday after a slow opening night. UConn losing in the first round is a great thing to see, as we hope that Miserable Coach of theirs goes away sometime soon. Today's Duke/WVU game should be a great one to watch.

Here's something interesting to think about also. Remember when St John's was a powerhouse? It was not too long ago and in the last decade things have gone to crap. Why are the best NYC High School players all playing for Jamie Dixon at Pitt? Between St John's and the Knicks this is the worst I have seen NYC basketball in my lifetime (32 solid years and counting). This needs to change. FAST!

Lastly I have 2 fantasy baseball drafts in the next 48 hours. I must say that the next few days are going to be a lot of fun.....

Lastly, here are some photos of the New Yankee Stadium.

I Kinda Like These Yankees

Well it only took a few weeks of Spring Training baseball before the Yankees start to show their stuff. No, not the stuff we have been seeing in spring the past few seasons (fat old men with bad hamstrings). This Yankees team has a lot of Girardi in them already. And this is a good thing. He was a tough, hard nosed player and he wants his team to be the same.

I like what I see. But lets not get anyone hurt during these royal rumbles please fellas. Note to the pitchers. Stay in the pen and watch.

I'm Good At Basketball

Lebron drops 50 at The Garden. Wow! It's going to be fun when he's actually doing that in a Knicks uniform in 2010.

Fresh and Ready to Go

To me, the month of February means one thing when it comes to being a sports fan. Sit back, kick your feet up, and relax. This February was spent doing just that, while at the same time buying every piece of NY Giants Super Bowl Champs gear as humanly possible. How cool does that sound? NY Giants Super Bowl Champs. I love it.

Now that March is upon us it is almost time for baseball, and the NCAA tournament. By then the Jets will have spent more money than Mike Huckabee. A funny thing happened a few days back. A friend of mine said I should post on the blog more as when he is bored and needs a laugh he looks here. That's good enough for me.

Baseball is in less than a month. Nice.
