Who Needs Miggy, We Have Melky!

Yankees win 3-2
1-0 on the season

Well for one night at least the Yankees can bask in the joy of being in first place at 1-0. Melky Cabrera played a great CF last night and hit a big HR that brought the Yankees back even with the Jays. From there, the Joba/Mo show took over. If you watched the game last night and closed your eyes, Joba looks like Mo, and Mo looks like Wettland from 1996.

There are a few topics from the game I'd like to discuss, first of which is finding out if Girardi is holding Jeter's bat in the dugout, like his predecessor Mr. Torre would do. Also, as much as I like Joba there is something I wish he would do. The fist pump that he uses after striking someone out is bound to piss off some people by August. Maybe a little toned down celebration would be better off for him. As we know, Jeter will get hit on the hand with a fastball from some team who takes offense to this. I'm just saying......

In other baseball news...Down Goes Pedro! That was quick....I watched a bit of the Dodgers/Giants game last night and Matt Cain has some great stuff and may not win more than 10 games this year. How can the Giants send out a lineup that has Ray Durham, Dave Roberts, and has Benji Molina or Aaron Rowand hitting cleanup. Its sad....Josh Hamilton hit his first GW HR this season, in what is sure to be a breakout for him....Lastly, Troy Tulowitzki is a joy to watch and reminds me of an up and coming SS from 1996 named Jeter. As the scouts say, "This kid has got it."

Well played game with everyone doing the right things. Got to love Wang coming out in the first inning shattering bats. When that is happening he is tough to beat. Melky was obviously fantastic. If he can hit he will make a good corner outfielder one day. Giambi looks invigorated. Amazing what a contract year can do to some people. Very concerned about our rotation sans Pettite.

I agree and it's scary to see Moose starting game 2 of the season for us. Abreu is going to be a monster this season....

What is scarier is that Kei is starting at all thi sseason. Hughes and Kennedy better have grown up or it will be a long season. By the way, if Kay calls them Generation Trey again I will strangle him. Not only is it a horrible nickname but it is cribbed from three failed Mets prospects. How does he continue to collect a pay check.

Nice W and nice manufactured run (with a little help) to break the tie. Hope Joba does not fall in love with that breaking ball....
